Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday condoled the untimely demise of Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, son of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
In his condolence message, Modi said that a "promising public career has been tragically cut short" with his passing away.
"I am deeply saddened to learn about the sudden and untimely demise of your worthy son, Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum," Modi said in his letter to his counterpart, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Shaikh Rashid died of heart attack on Saturday. He was 34. "In this hour of personal grief, our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and people of UAE. The people of India join their UAE brothers and sisters in mourning this irreparable loss," Modi said.
Modi had visited UAE in August on a two-day visit, a first by an Indian prime minister in 34 years to a country that is also home to 2.6 million Indians.
