Indian doc tries to inject hospital chief with HIV blood

An Indian government doctor tried to inject the hospital superintendent with a syringe filled with HIV blood, reports say. 
The incident happened at the Proddutur district government hospital in Kadapa district. 
The police said the incident occurred around 10am on Friday when orthopaedician David Raju reached the chambers of superintendent Dr Lakshmi Prasad and tried to attack him with a syringe containing the blood of an HIV patient, The Times of India reports. 
Fortunately, a member of the staff noticed the syringe in his hand and helped Dr Prasad ward off the attack. In the melee, the tainted blood spilled on the ground.
The hospital staff caught David and seized the syringe and informed the Proddatur police.
Police said the doctor planned to attack Dr Lakshmi because the latter often reprimanded him for dereliction of duty.
The police charged a case of attempt to murder against David, who is in police custody, the report adds.
