Emirati tourists FINED in Germany for speeding at 200kph

Four Emirati tourists were fined by German police after driving at almost 200kph while on holiday.
A picture published by Der Spiegel showed the men laughing and showing the speed camera the v-sign while driving an Opel Astra in the southern German state of Bavaria on August 1.
According to the German paper their actions were meant to be a joke. 
The speed limit on the German AutoBahn's is 100kph, almost half the speed the youths were driving their vehicles at.
They were later stopped at an airport and fined EUR1,236 that Dh5,127.23.
In the recent travel guidelines issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation during summer, the Ministry clearly states that all national travelling abroad should respect the laws of host country. 
Recently, an Emirati motorist was wanted by police after being filmed driving dangerously in Europe and was detained on his return to the UAE. Video clips  on social media showed the 24-year-old suspect carrying out drifting stunts and deliberately making loud noises to attract attention.
UAE nationals need to note that the UAE law is applicable to every citizen who, during his travels abroad, commits an act that amounts to a crime according to the law of the UAE and that of the host country, in case he does not stand trial there.
Emirati citizens traveling abroad are urged to respect laws and regulations of the host countries and to be good ambassadors for their country.
