It was the culmination of IIFA Weekend in Madrid this Saturday. The star-studded show with over 5,000 audience members shouting hysterically went on just fine. But the final act of the evening left us thinking. Were Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone reluctant to share the stage with Salman Khan? Why did they look so uncomfortable and stiff on stage with Salman? The actor's dance was the last performance of the evening.

Was this Salman's attempt to apologise?
He started his 10-minute performance by dancing on Humko Maloom Hai Ishq Maasoom Hai, Dil Se Ho Jaatai Hai Galatiyaan, Sabra Se Ishq Mehroom Hain. This song from 2006 film Jaaneman is about asking for forgiveness. His hand gestures were portraying as if he is asking for forgiveness from the audiences. Eventually, towards the end of his performance, he invited Sooraj Pancholi, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone on stage.
Right from the moment, the girls landed on stage, there was a strange awkwardness in the air. When Priyanka and Deepika were coming towards the main stage, Salman held Priyanka's hand to escort her to the stage, but when he offered the same gesture to Deepika, she flatly ignored him and continued walking.

Did Priyanka and Deepika snub Salman?
It was evident that Priyanka and Deepika were not comfortable being on stage at that time. Salman tried his best to make them dance with him, but it was only his mentee Sooraj Pancholi, and Ranveer Singh who enthusiastically followed his dance steps. Both actresses stood aloof on stage, refusing to even make eye contact with the actor who was trying his best to form an on-stage bond with the girls. Though Priyanka warmed up a bit by clapping, Deepika stood still most of the time, other than dancing for few seconds on the Pinga song track with Priyanka.
After a while, both actresses just walked out of the stage, leaving the men to dance on their own. (arti@khaleejtimes.com)
