Al Wasl Club were given the extra mileage thanks to the fine show of the three Brazilians in their squad on Wednesday night at Al Nasr Stadium, in the second round of the Arabian Gulf Cup clash against hosts 'Hatta FC'.
Dominating the proceedings for a 2-0 victory, thanks to the midfield supply line manned by Ronaldo Mendes and Fabio Lima, the Cheetahs quickly got into a Samba mood for attacker Caio Canedo to cut and weave past the desperate Hatta defence lines.
The scoreline would have read 3-0 had Mendes not wasted a penalty award in the 82nd minute.
The 38th minute saw 'The Cheetahs' go ahead through a great solo effort from just inside the box by the thrustful Canedo whose stiff grounder beat Saif Albadi under the Hatta bar (1-0).
The Dubai side were always more purposeful and sharper in their raids, and from the turnovers, they managed snap shots, which the Hatta defence did well to ward off on a number of occasions.
From the occasional forays into the Wasl territory, midfielder Mihai Radut, a late signing for Hatta along with his Romanian teammate Adrian Rapotian, created problems but his hurriedly taken shots were wide off the mark.
And, during injury time, added before half time, Lima finally converted one with an easy header after Albadi had misjudged the flight of the ball following a corner kick to give Wasl a commanding two-goal cushion.
Burkina Faso national team forward Issiaka Quedraogo was at best adventurous, and though robust in approach, was well checked by the Wasl deep defenders Abdullah Saleh and Abdulrahman Ali.
