Al Nasr tore apart Qatari club El Jaish but coach Ivan Jovanovic hopes for a 'better performance' during the return leg of the AFC Champions League quarters.
Wanderley Santos roared on debut with a double and Jonathan Pitroipa blasted one through to make it 3-0 at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Wednesday night. And with their exploits, the Blues have sounded the war bugle for the Continental and local season.
Jovanovic said winning by 3-0 margin in Doha was unexpected.
"It was a very good result for us after a very good game," said Jovanovic at a Press conference. "We wanted to win the game but didn't expect to win by 3-0."
"We will play the second game at our home in the same way and we hope over the next 15 days we will prepare for an even better performance," he said.
But the Serbian is aware that after doing all the hard work, they cannot be complacent while hosting the Qatari club on September 14 at Al Maktoum Stadium.
"Maybe we have a small advantage but in Dubai it will be very decisive as to who can go through to the semifinals. El Jaish are a very good team. They had their chances but couldn't score."
"We need to forget this result when we play in Dubai. The semifinal is a very great target. Now we can think of making it there," Jovanovic added.
