Al Ain's inconsistent run in the Arabian Gulf Cup continued as they went down to Al Nasr 3-2 at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium on Friday night.
With this result, they have just one win from their three Group B matches. And coach Zlatko Dalic once again highlighted the need for adding new legs.
"Al Ain continue to suffer in the Arabian Gulf Cup competition. We have tried hard and still have a chance," Dalic said at a Press conference.
On the way forward, he said: "I have submitted a report to the administration on the need for three changes. I have identified some names and hope to succeed in bringing good players here."
For Al Nasr, they are on a winning roll. A brace from Ahmed Khamis and a goal from Abdelaziz Barrada helped them survive a late charge from Al Ain through strikes from Dyanfres Douglas and Danilo Asprilla.
Al Ain's Ibrahim Diaky was back from injury and would have made an immediate impact but his shot rebounded off the inside of the post. While Al Ain missed chances, the visitors made the most of what they got. Al Nasr scored from a strike from Khamis, who back-heeled a low cross from skipper Ahmed Ibrahim. In the 45th minute, the 'Blues' doubled with Barrada, whose chip over keeper Dawoud Sulaiman made it 2-nil. The second half started on worst note for Al Ain as Khamis doubled his tally. In the 56th minute, Jonathan Pitroipa's volley was saved by Sulaiman but it fell to Khamis, who slotted in to make it 3-nil.
Al Ain came back with Douglas, who headed in Asprilla's pass. And in dying minutes, Asprilla fired in from the right flank - a goal which will help his confidence after a string of poor finishes in previous matches. Al Ain mounted a late challenge but Al Nasr prevailed on the night.
