Hundreds Go for Bone Screening
Staff Reporter

21 November 2009
DUBAI — Hundreds of people were given free screening tests for their bone health, when they turned up to a walk for osteoporosis on Friday.

The walk, at Safa Park, was organised after it was revealed that 40 per cent of women scanned in the UAE and Saudi Arabia last year were at risk of fractures from osteoporosis.

The company behind the survey, Anlene, teamed up with the UAE Ministry of Health, Dubai Bone and Joint Center (DBAJ) and Emirates Arthritis Foundation to raise awareness of the problem and to offer the free screening.

“This is a drive to help people understand the risks if bone health is ignored. This is a great way to learn about the disease and get some practical advice on whether you are at risk and what action to take to avoid it,” said Khaled Hashish, general manager of Fonterra Brands, the parent company of Anlene.
