SHARJAH — A new bridge between Sharjah Industrial Areas 12 and 13 on Industrial Road 4 in the Al Maleeha area was opened to traffic on Sunday night.

The new bridge was inaugurated by Shaikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qassimi, director of the Sharjah Directorate of Public Works. A top official in Sharjah’s Department of Public Works said the bridge is the second project that stretches from an intersection on Emirates Road till the green belt area.

The new bridge is 66 metres high and 20 metres wide and has two lanes in each direction.

Shaikh Khalid said, “The Department of Public Works has completed a new part of the second phase of Al Maleeha road project. Once the whole project is completed, Al Maleeha road will be linked to Al Wahda renovation project through a tunnel at King Abdul Aziz Square (Abu Shaghara).”

“The department is sparing no efforts to improve the roads in Sharjah while ensuring that we are positively contributing to ending bottlenecks on the inner and outer roads of the emirate. We want to make sure motorists get smooth, hassle-free rides to any destination,” he added.
