Bribe Seeker Gets Three Years in Prison

ABU DHABI — Abu Dhabi First Instance Criminal Court sentenced a Pakistani national, to three years imprisonment and a fine of Dh170,000 for seeking a bribe, a Press release said on Sunday.

He will be deported after completion of his jail term.

The defendant had taken advantage of his job as a real estate assessor with a real estate company to demand a bribe from a customer for raising the assessment price of two villas, which were earlier assessed by a bank as per the market price.

Later, the customer reported the incident to the investigation directorate.

The accused was caught red-handed while receiving the money from the customer. The defendant admitted to the crime.
