RAS AL KHAIMAH — Residents of Ras Al Khaimah will pay more for their gas cylinder from today.

According to the new price list issued on Sunday by the RAK’s Department of Economic Development, a standard gas cylinder has gone up from Dh78 to Dh85.

A 44kg cylinder is now being sold at Dh170 instead of Dh156 and 11kg cylinder will now cost Dh 45, up from Dh39. The new prices will be effective up to the month of December.

Ahmed Ali Al Buroush, who heads the Consumer Protection Department at DED, has attributed the hike in the prices to the increase in the international prices.

The new prices, he said, have been fixed after the department held its monthly meeting with cooking gas companies and gas distributors.

This is the second consecutive time in just two months that gas prices have been increased in Ras Al Khaimah. In October, the prices of a standard gas cylinder was increased by Dh3 to Dh78. Whereas the price of a 44kg cylinder was increased by Dh4, the 11kg cylinder was hiked by Dh2.
