Import of birds from Spain banned

DUBAI - The Ministry of Environment and Water issued today an order banning imports of all types of birds and their derivatives from Spain amid reports of bird flu there.

Engineer Sultan Alwan, Executive Director of the Agricultural and Animal Affairs at the ministry, said that the administrative order was issued to safeguard the public health.

On his part, Eng. Ibrahim Al Jailani, Director of the Quarantine Department at the ministry, said the departments and sections were implementing the order in coordination with competent authorities.
