(WAM)

8 November 2009
AL AIN - The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) organized workshops on the financial regulations of public schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Held early November, the workshops were attended by principals, vice principals, PPP operators, and school accountants from the three educational zones.

During the workshops, Mrs. Nada Messaikeh, ADEC Finance Division Manager, delivered a presentation explaining the details of regulations and the financial policies and procedures applicable in ADEC regarding school budget, expenditure registration, and classification and allocation, as well as the procedures for collecting school fees from expat students. Mrs. Messaikeh stressed that all financial statements shall be electronically registered in the relevant records by school accountants via an accounting system that will be introduced and implemented at all schools.

Mrs. Nada Messaikeh explained the basics of school account consolidation and meeting all needs through the strategies and projects developed and implemented by ADEC. She also highlighted the importance of continuous communication between ADEC Finance Division and school managements.

Messaikeh said, “the agreement ADEC had signed with PPP operators includes the implementation of management performance indicators. A priority among these indicators is supporting principals in relation to the procedures and financial reports required by ADEC.” The finance division manager also added that each group of schools will be provided with an accountant and that ADEC will hire additional accountants to cover the remaining schools.
