UAE, France discuss joint economic cooperation

ABU DHABI - Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Foreign Trade, received today Ms. Anne-Marie Idrac, French Minister for Foreign Trade, for talks on ways of enhancing bilateral relations in economy, trade and investment.

Sheikha Lubna lauded the progress of the Emirati-French relations, saying France is a major strategic partner to the UAE and stressing the importance of the wide presence of the French public and private firms in the UAE thriving market.

The French minister said her government was satisfied with the advanced pace the bilateral trade and investment cooperation was taking.

She affirmed that was willing to tap all opportunities on offer in the UAE for the best interest of economies in the two friendly countries.

Two-way trade exchange grew by 25% in 2008 to more than US$ 4 billion.

Over 115 French firms were registered in the UAE in addition to 257 trade agencies and 4,419 trade marks.
