Road Accident, Electrocution Deaths in Dubai

DUBAI — Two Pakistani nationals were killed and three others injured in a traffic accident which took place in Dubai on Wednesday, according to Dubai Police. The traffic accident was caused by the speeding driver who lost control of the car on Shaikh Zayed Road near the World Trade Centre tunnel towards the Abu Dhabi direction.

The Pakistani woman driver and her companion who was sitting on the front seat died instantly while the three passengers sitting behind sustained severe injuries. Lieutenant Badr Al Zafin, an officer at the Traffic Department of Dubai Police said the hard task force and traffic team rushed to the site and transported the injured to the Rashid Hospital.  A man died after he was electrocuted while maintaining cables on Al Nahda Road.

The task force lifted the dead body of the Pakistani worker after the accident took place at 8am on Wednesday at a cable manhole near a gas station on the road. The worker who was on maintenance routine in a manhole belonging to Etisalat was about to get out of the hole when he put his hand on a metal board outside the hole.

He was electrocuted by the board which had a high voltage current running through it. The shock threw him back into the hole.
