DUBAI - The first women-only medical fitness test centre for visa purposes was inaugurated by officials of the Dubai Health Authority on Wednesday.
The centre is located in Al Rashidiya and has been opened to provide complete privacy to women.
“The aim of opening a dedicated women’s only medical fitness centre is to ensure that we provide privacy to ladies and while this is a dedicated centre for women, we already have a separate waiting area for females in all our centres,” said Maisa Al Bustani, Director of Medical Fitness, at the DHA.
“We have been vigorously expanding our medical fitness centres keeping in mind both geographical considerations and audience type,” she said.
The centre is located near the Emirates Post office in Al Rashidiya.
At present, the centre will only cater to renewal of medical fitness tests for women. In the future, it will also manage medical fitness tests for new employment and work visas. The centre will be able to cater to renewal needs of 400 customers per day.
Al Bustani added that in addition to the Karama centre, which will open very soon, there are two more ongoing projects which will be announced in the near future. With the opening of this centre, the DHA has a total number of 16 medical fitness test centres spread across Dubai.
Khalid Al Shaikh Mubarak, Deputy Director-General of the DHA, said that this centre was launched after witnessing the popularity of the female wing in the Al Muhaisnah medical fitness centre.
He also mentioned that the DHA will incorporate more dedicated women-only centres if there is a demand for such a service.
Operational hours of the new centre are from 7.30am to 2pm from Sunday to Thursday.
