The interval timings of traffic signals are being changed in view of traffic congestions.
Hence, motorists should be alert and not take chances when negotiating the traffic signals, Engineer Mohamed Ahmed Al Ameri said.
There are some 104 intersections in Abu Dhabi with 250-300 traffic signals installed therein.
They are all electronically inter-connected and controlled by the TSCC round the clock, said Al Ameri.
Construction activity along Al Salam Street is the main reason of changes in traffic signal timings. New temporary signals have been installed at Al Salam Street due to the construction of bridges and roads in the area..
The Abu Dhabi Municipality, in collaboration with the Traffic Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, has installed several caution signages to warn motorists of the potential risks. However, some of the motorists turn a blind eye to them and end up meeting with accidents, Al Ameri said in reply to a query about several accidents last week.
Motorists need to take extra precautions while travelling on Al Salam Street in the capital as the temporary traffic signal near Corniche Bridge which is under construction had caused several accidents last week as commuters failed to notice the new signal.
