Al Shehri said that an operations room has been set up in the Ministry of Education to receive queries and answer all questions on the swine flu pandemic from educationists, students and their guardians.
He said the ministry has laid down a plan for the vaccination of students, and added that vaccination would not be compulsory.
A letter will be sent to the guardians of students, who total over five million in all stages of education, to request their consent before students are vaccinated. This will take place after the vaccines arrive in the Kingdom. Meanwhile, the General Administration for Boys’ Education in the Riyadh Region has completed preparations for combating swine flu.
Abdul Kareem Al Nasser, director of purchases in the administration, said that the administration has provided all government schools in Riyadh with temperature measuring devices, hand sanitising liquid, facial tissues, garbage bins, plastic cups, liquid soap, medical face masks, besides numerous other medical requirements costing SR4 million.
Meanwhile, the King Abdul Aziz Centre for National Dialogue is to hold its fourth preparatory meeting for its Eighth National Intellectual Dialogue, entitled ‘Health Services, a Dialogue Between Society and Health Institutions,’ on Tuesday. The meeting in Yanbu is in preparation for the Eighth National Intellectual Dialogue, which will take place in Najran.
Dr Fahd bin Sultan Al Sultan, deputy secretary-general, said the Centre has been promoting dialogue as a way to transparently discuss issues affecting Saudi society.
