MANAMA - Bahrain is getting ready to host the World Heritage Committee meeting in 2011 with a massive facelift of cultural centres and theatres.

During a meeting last week Minister of Culture and Information Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa urged cultural and art establishments to extend their support towards enriching the local cultural scene.

While meeting representatives of such establishments and intellectuals, Shaikha Mai highlighted the need to overcome shortcomings to ensure objectives are achieved and called for efforts to speed up involvement of the local community.

The minister said that the meeting was part of the ongoing efforts to interact with cultural establishments, extending them support and learning about their future plans in addition to removing hurdles in the way of creative people and intellectuals.

Besides local establishments, the authorities also planned to seek help from international experts of repute to make Bahrain ready for the big event, the minister added.
