Aabharan Jewellery has announced its Dancing Bird Designer Contest 2011. In association with the International Gemological Institute (IGI), the company is looking for fresh talents, who are not yet designers, but have a flair for jewellery making.

Launched by Aabharan Jewellery six years ago, the Dancing Bird Designer Contest was initiated soon after with over 200 applicants per year and involvement from the public on the selection processes to the final three.

Since then the contest has seen everyone participating from college students, housewives, bankers, and architects taking part. In fact, the winner for Dancing Bird 2010 was Mr. Nazir Ahmed, who is from the health care industry.

The judges’ panel for Dancing Bird this year includes influential people from fashion and the media - Binay Shetty, executive director at NMC, along with Uma Gosh Deshpande television anchor/producer for the show High Life Dubai and designer Gaurav Gupta, a leading designer from India who saw recent success at the Delhi Couture Week.

This year’s contest also sees the launch of the Face of Dancing Bird for 2011-2012. Watch out for the model hunt among the residents of UAE. Dancing Bird is out to find its epitome of the Dancing Bird Woman.

The winner, selected by a panel of judges, will represent the winning design for the jewellery competition and Dancing Bird’s collections for an entire year.

Entries for the model hunt lasts from September 25 to 30, and more information is available on the Aabharan Facebook page.
