THE FACE OF the Globe beauty pageant has chosen UAE resident Anuradha Viswanathan as a grand finalist to compete in their final award show to be held between 2 - 9 April 2016, in London and Disneyland Paris.
Face Of The Globe is a beauty pageant with a difference. The contest has four age categories ranging from 5 years with no age limit. Finalists will be judged not just on looks, but also their personalities. The beauty pageant creates awareness for the Rainbow Child Foundation. The global charity helps underprivileged children and their families all over the world. Recent projects have included building play pumps, which generate clean drinking water for schools and villages as well as funding crops and livestock for villages in South Africa and orphanages in Cambodia. Each contestant is endowed with the task of raising funds for the Rainbow Child Foundation with opportunities to be sponsored. The contestant who performs as the highest fundraiser will also able to donate 10 percent of their collections to a charity of their choice.
Abu Dhabi based Anuradha, who competes in the Adult Category, has been picked amongst girls from all over the world. As a physics graduate, Anuradha has been pursuing research work while also performing as a vocalist and teaching vocal training. City Times caught up with the beauty contestant to ask how she's gearing up for the finals next year.
What made you want to compete for the Face of the Globe beauty pageant?
My loved ones and well-wishers encouraged and persuaded me to participate. I decided that this is the right time for it. So I took this step since it's my ardent wish to fulfil their dreams. Face of The Globe is a globally renowned and reputed pageant held in the UK and Paris - which are world fashion capitals.
How is Face of the Globe different from any other beauty pageant?
It has become successful in a really short time span. This is the result of the efforts of Lucie Hide, Hollie Galletly and the Face Of The Globe team. Unlike most other pageants, Face Of The Globe has no swimwear round. With ball gowns, evening wear and personalised sashes and tiaras, worthy finalists get to experience the magic of feeling like a princess in Disneyland. It is open to girls aged 5 upwards and has no upper limit for age! Participating women can be married and mothers too.
If you were to be the highest fundraiser to which charity would you donate your 10 percent?
The Child Rights and You (CRY). My family and I have been regular contributors to this organisation and we appreciate the service that has been met by this organisation.
What types of responsibilities are expected of you if you were to win Face of the Globe?
I plan to get involved with pageantry and modelling upon winning the title.
I would also like to contribute to social causes, which is one of the main ideals of the pageant and I would like to uphold their values.
What kind of platform does Face of the Globe provide to contestants and potential winners?
It opens up plenty of avenues to achieve contestants' goals and gains you global recognition. It also exposes them to fashion stylists, modelling agencies and industry professionals worldwide. Moreover, grand finalists are able to create awareness by using their social media for mutual goals.
What do you hope to gain from winning the title and participating?
I hope to continue to be involved with a lot of fashion events and be a part of the beauty pageant and modelling world. I want to benefit from the platform provided by the pageant for its winners and also promote charity and social causes.
