FOX 2000 PICTURES has entered into a first-look producing deal with John Green, the author of The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns.
Fox 2000 president Elizabeth Gabler said in statement Tuesday: "We are elated to expand upon our already extraordinary relationship with John and feel honoured to be able to enhance our creative horizons together. He is truly a force of nature and we are proud to be part of his world." Under the deal, Green will collaborate with Temple Hill Entertainment principals Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen on several projects. Temple Hill, which produced the Twilight movies and The Fault in Our Stars film, already has a first-look deal at Fox.
The Fault in Our Stars was a breakout hit last year with over $300 million in worldwide grosses on a budget of under $15 million. The film adaptation of Paper Towns - produced by Bowen, Godfrey and Green - opens in the US Friday amid expectations for a similarly solid performance.
Fox has another 20-plus first-look deals, including pacts with Paul Feig, James Cameron, Peter Chernin, Ridley Scott and Ben Stiller.
Green also wrote the novels Looking for Alaska, which has an adaptation set at Paramount, and An Abundance of Katherines. Reuters
