What do Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar have in common - besides being wealthy and youth icons? They are both proud owners of BMW's state-of-the-art i8 sports car.

According to media reports in India, King Khan - as he is fondly known to his fans - just purchased a swanky BMW i8, which costs a cool INR22.9 million in India.

Known for his love of fancy cars, the superstar already owns a Audi A6, Bentley and Rolls Royce Phantom among others.

Bystanders and paparazzi recorded the superstar taking the new ride out for a spin on the streets of Mumbai as soon as the car was delivered to his house on Wednesday.

The car was personally delivered by BMW Navneet Motors director Sharad Kachalia.

He was accompanied by his bodyguard while his chauffeur and another armed security guard drove in his usual car ahead of him.

"Shah Rukh has several fancy wheels, but his favourite is his BMW 7-series in which he always travels. Recently, he bought the latest model of the luxury automaker and its cost is pegged at around INR33 million," a source was quoted as saying, reports Mid-day.

He has also applied for a customised number plate bearing his lucky digits 555.

SRK drove from Mannat, along the Milan subway, before speeding down the highway. After driving for over half an hour, he took a U-turn and drove back to Mannat, MumbaiMirror reported.
