OVER THE LAST day or so, web speculation has been rife that a few careless comments about Sanam Re co-stars Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat's seemingly close relationship has cased the pair to demand Urvashi Rautela's exclusion from the promotional tour of the movie.
When news then reached us the beauty pageant model-turned-actress was not making her way to Dubai to join in today's scheduled conferences to advertise the film, the hearsay could have gained credence.
"I may not be coming, that's true, because of some personal commitments and my other work commitments," Urvashi told City Times over the phone yesterday.
"That's absolutely false," Urvashi added when asked if she'd address reports she had been asked not to travel with the pair since apparently insinuating they were "in love" after the three appeared on Krushna Abhishek's Comedy Nights Live television show in India.
"They are both very great actors and some of the nicest people I have ever met," Urvashi went on to say about the duo. "I would definitely love to work with them again."
In Sanam Re Urvashi plays Akanksha, a young expat socialite. Although any similarities between that aspect of her role and the real former Miss Universe India are quickly shot down.
"I'm not a socialite. I'm an actress. I'm not Kim Kardashian. Kim Kardashian is big! Like, physically big! I'm not like that," Urvashi said with a laugh.
"Akanksha is strong and independent. She is a businesswoman as well. She's hard on the outside but emotional on the inside.
"She believes in the power of love and romance. She can do anything for the person she loves. That's one similarity we have."
On whether she currently has anyone she is willing to sacrifice anything for, the 21-year old stated she was still looking for her "Prince Charming."
Sanam Re marks Urvashi's second major release after 2013's Singh Saab The Great where she played the traditional Hindi cinema female character, Minnie opposite Sunny Deol. The movie opening today marks an acting direction Urvashi has wanted to go in for quite some time.
"I have always loved love stories like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and wanted to be part of these films.
"Sanam Re is an ultimate pure love story. I am a diehard romantic and the soul is very beautiful.
"I have just started in the industry and this movie is releasing near to Valentine's Day. What's better than that?"
After the initial release of Sanam Re, Urvashi told us to look out for her in four upcoming Bollywood movies over the next few months plus a Hollywood film project with singer Seal and a music album with videos to be recorded in Dubai in collaboration with reggae star Sean Paul.
