Akshay Kumar, who will be seen in Airlift, inspired by the evacuation of Indians who were based in Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait war, says it can't be compared to Hollywood star Ben Affleck's Oscar-winning film Argo.
"This is a complete original story and non-fictional. Airlift is about a Kuwait-based businessman who was stuck along with more than a lakh people who were staying in Kuwait at that time (1990). "Airlift and Argo are different and can't be compared," said Akshay.
Nimrat Kaur, who will be sharing screen space with Akshay in the movie, said: "Argo is a very small scale operation and it's very specific. Both are different incidents and there is no resemblance between the two."
"I have seen a film like this... Balraj Sahni's Waqt where a person goes through the same experience. That film got stuck on my mind," Akshay said.
"Nimrat did her job so well in the movie so, I call her an international actress. There are scenes that she did with so much of emotion and passion especially the climax scene. She is an amazing actress," Akshay said about The Lunchbox actress who also featured in American TV series Homeland.
Talking about the gap between doing The Lunchbox (2013) and Airlift, Nimrat said: "I was busy shooting for Homeland for one and a half years. That took a lot of time. Sometimes what happens is you are waiting to start working but the script doesn't come at the right time. So, it is a matter of chance. It's not like I planned for a two-year gap."
