There is a growing need for organisations to acquire and roll-out new technologies to facilitate and ensure end-user productivity, while assuming they achieve their goals and that their end-users are satisfied, according to an IT specialist.
"Most organisations have no technology in place today to be able to confirm the investments that have been made are delivering the necessary value and RoI. Nexthink IT analytics can help organisations verify that they are on the right track and how they can achieve the necessary benefits," Maged Eid, regional director for Nexthink Middle East, told Khaleej Times in an interview.
Headquartered in Switzerland, Nexthink opened its Dubai office in 2011 as a regional headquarters because of the emirate's strategic geographical location in the region, Eid explained. In addition to Dubai, the company has offices in Riyadh, Bahrain, Kuwait and Egypt.
"Nexthink is the market leader with its unique IT analytics solution. In very short period of time, we have acquired over almost the top 150 customers in the UAE, Qatar and Egypt, and this number continues to grow. Our solution is not industry specific and IT analytics fills a critical gap in the IT portfolio of any organisation today," he explained.
"We are very proud to work with customers in all industries such as leading Telecommunications providers including du and Mobinil/Orange Egypt. We are very proud to have strategic customers in our portfolio such as the Jumeriah Group, the UAE Ministry of Health UAE, Gasco, Saib, the Dewa, and Dar Al Handasah," he said.
He added: "We believe in developing close relationships with our customers throughout the sales cycle, to ensure our customers get the maximum RoI out of the IT analytics that Nexthink provides. Nexthink is heavily investing in the region and we are proud that the business is growing with double digit figures each year."
He mentioned that Nexthink has achieved 50 per cent growth year over year and the company has reported its 16th consecutive quarter of growth for the company in the Middle East. "We are seeing certain industries facing challenges today like the energy sector, and this is exactly the right time for Nexthink to engage and to present the power and value that only IT analytics can bring in terms of cost optimisation," he said.
According to research firm MarketsandMarkets , the IT operations analytics market is estimated to grow from $2.17 billion in 2015 to $9.79 billion by 2020, at a compound annual growth rate of 35.2 per cent.
Security is a common risk factor for all organisations, especially in the context of the tremendous growth and increase in population in the Middle East, he said, adding: "We are seeing more new and sophisticated targeted attacks across the region, and organisations are strengthening their IT security investments."
According to Gartner, global spending on IT security was estimated to increase 4.7 per cent to $75.4 billion in 2015, and organisations across the world will spend $101 billion on information security in 2018. This topic is getting the most attention in the industries of banking and finance and the public sector.
Smart government
With end-users accessing an increasing amount of smart government services with their devices, they make easy targets for malware and hacktivists whose ultimate goals are to reach the heart of the infrastructure of smart governments, where they can cause the most damage.
Eid said smart governments need solutions to monitor their IT infrastructure and especially their end-user endpoints, as that is the weakest link in the IT security chain and therefore the area where they are most vulnerable.
End-user devices can be used as the entry point to an attack on the IT infrastructure so standard technologies, solutions and processes already used to protect against suspicious activity or threats need to be bolstered. Real-time IT analytics provide an additional layer of protection for smart government infrastructure and endpoints against these potential vulnerabilities.

Happiness through IT
In addition to e-government initiatives and smart services, the UAE has recently created the positon of Minister of State for Happiness to align and drive government policy to create social good and satisfaction.
"How can organisations leverage and apply this strategy internally? As we reflect on this topic, it is clear that end-user happiness and performance is closely tied to an organisation's efficiency and productivity. Therefore, in line with this new government initiative, Nexthink has put in place a programme with our customers to help them measure end-user satisfaction with IT services and support. This is possible through real-time visibility of the entire end-user computing environment powered by IT analytics," Eid explained.
