The UAE Ministry of Finance recently held its 2016 Annual Forum in Dubai, representing a significant platform to recognise strategic partners and talented employees who have contributed to achieving the ministry's initiatives and key objectives.
The annual forum witnessed the presence of Obaid bin Humaid Al Tayer, Cabinet Member and UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs; and Younis Haji Al Khoori, Under-secretary of the MoF, in addition to MoF assistant under-secretaries, directors and employees, and a number of representatives from ministries and the MoF's strategic partners.
Al Tayer delivered an opening speech, in which he stressed the ministry's commitment to achieve its strategic objectives which fall under one vision to achieve global leadership in financial management and ensure sustainable competitive environment. This requires improving the efficiency of human resources and strengthen partnerships which are necessary in implementing the ministry's mission as per the innovation vision.
Al Tayer said: "2015 was an eventful year and witnessed several UAE initiatives. One of the most important initiative is the 'Year of Innovation', which saw the launch of several activities and programmes aimed at improving the quality of services delivered, achieving the federal government's vision, improving performance and efficiency of human resources, and strengthening the capacity of infrastructure to contribute to the competitiveness levels and attract investments and economic activities."
"Any entity's success is built on collaboration, specifically if it follows the directions and strategy of our wise leadership. The ministry has been keen from the outset to establish partnerships and evolve in different fields in order to improve the quality levels in its work, and support other institutions to maximise benefits. One of the most important highlights with regards to the ministry's partnerships is building a strong network of regional and international agreements on the avoidance of double taxation on income and protection and promotion of investment, which have created a number of opportunities. Other beneficial agreements include the internal ones on exchanging experiences, best practices and adopting initiatives."
During the forum, a panel discussion was held on government innovation in the UAE, which witnessed the participation of Major Muhammad Ismail Al Harmoudi, director of the Innovation Centre at the General Secretariat of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; and Fatima Yousef Al Naqbi, CEO of Government Innovation at the MoF. The panel discussion was moderated by Faisal Ali Al Mansouri, director of the Strategic Planning Performance Department, and covered several elements including the concept, vision, aspirations and achievements within the innovation field; in addition to a presentation on the UAE's experience and achievements in the field of innovation as well as initiatives and programmes launched by local entities during the UAE Innovation Week.
During the forum, the ministry honoured its strategic partners who have a made a real change and offere constant support to the ministry. Among the honoured partners are ministries as well as exceptional federal entities and local departments. The ministry honoured some of its most talented employees for their efforts during 2015 and those of who have succeeded as per the federal government employees' performance management system.
The 2016 honoured strategic partners included the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Ministry of Health and Prevention, Federal Customs Authority, UAE Central Bank, Federation National Council, United Arab Emirates University, Statistics Centre, Emirates Investment Authority and National Media Council.
