Second-hand items shopping surge in capital

Abu Dhabi - Items posted by residents of the emirate have a total value of Dh367 million with Abu Dhabi dubizzlers placing an average of one advertisement every two minutes.

The classified website, Dubizzle has revealed that it currently hosts over 194,490 second hand items for sale across Abu Dhabi. These items for sale were posted between January and September this year.
Items posted by residents of the emirate have a total value of Dh367 million with Abu Dhabi dubizzlers placing an average of one advertisement every two minutes.
The most expensive items posted on dubizzle in Abu Dhabi were two copies of the world's smallest holy Quran with a combined price of Dh1.5 million, followed by a Dh500,000 sports watch signed by Maradona.
The website has also revealed that the most popular items in demand in Abu Dhabi include sofas, computers, mobile phones, baby strollers, watches and SLR cameras.
Commenting on the findings, Irina Katchan, product marketing manager items for sale for dubizzle, said: "Collating the facts and figures for our Abu Dhabi market proved to be an eye opener to the under-estimated and fast-growing secondhand market in the Capital."
There are 10,753 types of sofas, at a total cost of Dh16.5 million; 5,838 computers at a total value of Dh11.5 million.
Other findings revealed in dubizzle's Abu Dhabi report include: 1,452 strollers have total value of Dh744,000; 3,157 various kinds of watches for sale, totalling a whopping Dh19.1 million; 602 types of guitars which have a combined value of Dh790,451; 14,384 mobile phones for sale, amounting to Dh18.9 million.
