Dubai is keen to promote aviation activities in the Emirate and a new decree has allowed non-UAE nationals to buy land in the Dubai World Central (DWC) area.
"In his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has issued Resolution No (8) of 2016, adding new land plots to the freehold area in Dubai World Central available for non-UAE nationals in Dubai," Wam reported on Monday.
The decision aims to support the objectives of DWC's Dubai Aviation City to cater to the continuous growth of the aviation sector in Dubai, and to further cement its position as an international hub for aviation and logistics services.
The decision grants non-UAE nationals the rights to absolute ownership, without a specific time frame, of lands and properties located in land plots number 205, 206 and 207 in the Dubai World Central area (521). It also gives owners the right to benefit from and lease lands and properties in these plots for a period not exceeding 99 years.
The decree seeks to promote Dubai as a destination of choice for event organisers in aviation-related sectors.
The decision also aims to attract further investments to the Aviation City, and provide an investment-friendly environment.
Dubai Aviation City was established through a decree in April, 2015 with the aim to keep pace with the rapid growth witnessed by the emirate in the field of aviation. The city was formed to boost the position of the emirate to become a global hub for all forms of air transportation and cargo, as well as supporting commercial, property, industrial and service investments pertaining to aviation.
The city is also responsible for setting up a suitable environment for attracting investments into the emirate, and making Dubai the leading destination for organising aviation-related exhibitions, conferences and activities on both the local and global level.
The development is expected to host the world's largest maintenance, repair and overhaul centre.
