Drake & Scull Engineering (DSE), a subsidiary of Drake & Scull International (DSI), has secured a Dh121 million EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract to design and install a chilled water distribution network for a mixed-use development in Dubai. DSI has won Dh2.65 billion in total project awards across Mena and Asia year to date.
Under the terms of the agreement, DSE will design and build an underground chilled water pipe network in the mixed-use development. In addition, DSE will also deliver all civil works and completion is slated for 2018.
Ahmad Al Naser, managing director of Drake & Scull Engineering, said: "DSE boasts a strong portfolio of major district cooling installations in metropolises across the region. Our expertise in delivering such projects has been demonstrated by our work on district cooling plants in Dubai Festival City, Jumeirah Beach Residence and Meydan Nad Al Sheba in Dubai.
"The installation of the underground chilled water pipe network in the mixed-use development will prove to be a challenging project that will provide us with an opportunity to demonstrate our EPC skills. Some of the major district cooling projects we are delivering in the region include the district cooling plants in Dohaland and Lusail City in Qatar and Saraya Aqaba in Jordan. Our sound technical fundamentals and skilled professionals give us a competitive advantage as we aim to secure project wins associated with the Dubai Expo 2020."
Some of the key engineering projects being undertaken by DSE in the UAE include the Louvre Museum, the Fairmont Hotel & Service Apartments, the Jewel of the Creek, Habtoor City, and Mall of the Emirates expansion.
