India's restaurant chain Absolute Barbecues, known as AB's, has opened its second outlet in Dubai and its top executives said six more restaurants will be opened in major Gulf cities in the next three years.
In addition, AB's is also planning to go to shopping malls with quick service restaurant (QSR) model with reduced rates and different options, they said.
With the opening of the second outlet in Dubai, AB's will be operating a total of 10 outlets including eight in India. The company opened its first restaurant in Dubai Media City around 18 months ago.
"The opening of our second outlet is a strong testimony to the support that we have received from food lovers and connoisseurs in this part of the world," Razeen Parambil, general manager of Mayfair Restaurants told reporters during a news conference at the second restaurant opening near Deira City Centre.
Parambil explained: "We chose Deira for our second outlet because a close analysis of our regular diners made us realise the fact that a lot of guests visiting our Shaikh Zayed Road outlet come from Deira and its vicinities. With the sole objective of reaching out to our customers, we have decided to start our 120-seater restaurant in Centurion Star Towers which is barely two minutes' walk from Deira City Centre metro station."
AB is known for the cuisine range that it offers and the manner in which they have taken the grilling concept to a new level. The restaurant's all tables come equipped with grills. The center of each table has a makeshift wooden slab that is removed to reveal a barbecue pit. There is also the Wish Grill, an open kitchen where customers are spoilt for choice with various meat-cuts and vegetables, and an endless number of sauces.
According to Shajeer Parambath, director, Mayfair Restaurants: "We have put in place a detailed expansion plan for GCC countries. We are also in discussion with some of the leading malls in Dubai for suitable spaces that will meet our QSR requirements." - abdulbasit@khaleejtimes.com
