UAE, US call for boosting energy cooperation
The UAE and US has discussed cooperation in the areas of oil and natural gas, energy efficiency innovations.

Abu Dhabi - They stressed the importance of multi-lateral cooperation and expansion of the pioneering role of the UAE in international forums.

The UAE and the US have underlined their joint commitment to cooperating and exchanging views within the framework of the strategic dialogue between the two countries.
This came during a meeting on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi between the UAE Minister of Energy, Suhail Mohammed Faraj Al Mazroui, and US Deputy Secretary of Energy Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall. They discussed cooperation in the areas of oil and natural gas, energy efficiency innovations, carbon capture and storage, use and spread of clean energy and research and cooperation in the peaceful nuclear field. Both, the Ministry of Energy and the Energy Department, made presentations about the oil and gas industries during the talks.
The two sides emphasised the importance of partnerships and investments in public and private sectors in supporting development and spread of clean energy technologies to tackle energy security and climate change challenges.
They stressed the importance of multi-lateral cooperation and expansion of the pioneering role of the UAE in two international forums - Pioneer CO2 Capture forum and the Ministerial Forum of Clean Energy - including participation in the upcoming second forum for an initiative for the education and empowerment of women in the clean energy sector in Abu Dhabi in early 2016.
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and the America in the areas of energy and water.
They also discussed the cooperation between the UAE and the United States in the peaceful nuclear energy sector in the UAE and its commitment to safe and responsible nuclear energy in accordance with the international agreements and commitments in line with the international framework for cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.
Al Mazroui and Randall agreed on the importance of strategic energy dialogue between the two countries to bolster cooperation in the field of energy, that being a key element in the partnership between the two countries.
Randall thanked Al Mazroui for the UAE's hosting of this round of dialogue. She proposed the hosting of next round in Washington.
