Dubai: Al Futtaim Motors on Wednesday launched the bigger and better all-new Toyota Fortuner 2016 in the UAE.
The second-generation seven-seat SUV features fully redesigned exterior and interior styling in addition to legendary off-road performance synonymous with Toyota SUVs.
The new vehicle is available in eight exterior colours across all Al Futtaim Motors showrooms, with prices starting from Dh105,900 for the 2.7L EXR, Dh127,900 for the 4.0L GXR and Dh139,900 for the top of the line 4.0L VXR.
Soon after the launch, the new Fortuner was tested by journalists on road and off-road in desert during heavy rain and thunderstorm in Dubai and it successfully cleared all tests (click here to watch video of the desert drive).
Renowned for its durability, on-road comfort and off-road prowess, the new Fortuner features a more distinctive, sleek and powerful design with improved driving dynamics and fuel consumption, as well as a wide variety of features for additional convenience, safety and ride comfort.
The car will not only continue to appeal to families but will even see an increased interest among young Emiratis and Westerners looking for a strong SUV that can combine unbeatable off-road capabilities with premium looking interior, Al-Futtaim Motors managing director for Toyota Saud Abbasi told reporters at the launch.
The Medium SUV segment constitutes 46 per cent of the volume SUV market in the UAE and the Fortuner has played a major role in maintaining Toyota's leadership of this segment in the past five years, according to Abbasi.
Toyota has created a new "Solid Fluidity" design language for the Fortuner which expresses toughness and wideness through the high body axis, the bulging wheel arch flares as well as the chunky trapezoidal front bumper.
Compelling design
The exterior has been completely overhauled, and the new Fortuner now stands longer, wider and lower. The large, slanted upper grille is framed by thick chrome plating that extends around the sleek, aggressive Bi-beam LED headlamps with integrated Daytime Running Lights (DRL), while the prominent trapezoidal front bumper creates a sense of depth.
The elegant interior features coloured accent stitching throughout, metallic ornamentation and detailed 'Fortuner' script on the upper glove box release button and rear door trim ornament.
