Dolce and Gabbana's trip to Dubai

Dubai - All that was missing where the designers themselves: Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, to greet you.

Wish you were here? That was the Dolce and Gabbana at Dubai Mall store on Sunday evening, as the Italian fashion house hosted a soiree to celebrate their Spring/Summer 2016 collection, "Italia is Love".
Says the fashion duo about this collection, "The idea behind the Italia is Love collection is Italy seen through the eyes of a tourist. We went back to the 50s: the years of the big movie divas travelling to our country and the touristic boom. What was fascinating for them then, was to see the difference of Italian craftsmanship at that particular historical moment in relation to the rest of Europe."
And the store became the perfect backdrop for this, with installations that took you to London, China and Russia. And clothes that made you feel you were in Italy-thanks to their postcard style prints saying "Roma", Positano" and "Firenze".
This collection is all about colour from kaftans to body-con corset style dresses. And their "camera" bag add quirk, yet encapsulates the mood of the Dolce and Gabbana this season. Daises, lemons, roses were favoured for the prints and embroideries -a virtual ode to the Italian countryside.
With handbags displayed on vegetable stalls, waiters complete with checked aprons walking around serving you pasta, meatballs and strawberry tarts and an illustrator on hand to draw your picture, you felt you were in a village somewhere in South Italy.
All that was missing where the designers themselves: Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, to greet you. Well according to the buzz the duo should be coming to Dubai later this year. Judging by this in-store evening, it will be an evening of complete "La Dolce Vita".
