Anamika Khanna sets the bar at Amazon India Fashion Week

She is a designer who does not follow trends, but sets the trends.

It was the half-way point of Amazon India Fashion Week. It was a highly anticipated Friday night, when the show was over half an hour fashionably late. Yet, no one could doubt the sense of excitement in the packed house.  Every designer you can think of from JJ Valaya to Gaurav Gupta was gracing the front row.
But there is only one designer who can cause such enthusiasm and that's Anamika Khanna. 
She is a designer who does not follow trends, but sets the trends. And when Anamika presented a collection that was pret in soul and in surface you knew that Indian fashion industrywas waking up to the world of fast fashion. Every single piece in her collection represented her unique take on sporty chic.
Starting with a monochromatic pallete she moved to browns and indigoes with red as an accent. There was a gentle tribal feel to the collection. The collection had all the signature traits that you'd expect from Anamika, ranging from asymmetrical cuts to cape style Kutras, without compromising on the freshness of the collection. From the athletic stripes, to the tracksuit style pajamas, this was young, easy and energetic.
One could also notice the Resham(thread) embroidery highlight itself when needed. All pieces from the sari to the tunic were teamed with white sneakers. The show was a lesson on how to infuse pret with couture accents. Anamika is the designer who redefines the modern Indian Aesthetic. This collection proved that from couture to pret; Anamika is the designer who sets the bar.
