Austrian jobless rate rises in October

VIENNA - Austria’s unemployment rate rose to 6.8 percent in October from 6.4 percent in September, official data showed on Monday. A total 245,523 people were without a job last month, up from 234,505 in September, the labour ministry said.

On a 12-month comparison, the jobless total was up 21.1 percent.

According to Eurostat data, Austria’s jobless rate stood at 4.7 percent in August, the latest month for which data are available.
