Indian film to kick off South Asian fest in US

The Indian documentary, “Supermen of Malegaon”, will kick off the Seventh Annual 3rd i San Francisco International South Asian Film Festival (SFISAFF) from Thursday.

To be held from Nov 5-8, it will showcase short films, documentaries and features from South Asia and the South Asian diaspora, including India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Australia, Canada, Germany, Britain and the US.

With a special focus on documentaries this year, the festival will screen some like “Warrior Boyz”, “Love In India”, “Children of the Pyre”, “Iron Eaters”, “Searching For Sandeep” and “Yes Madam, Sir” that also closes the gala.

”Supermen...”, directed by Faiza Ahmed Khan, follows the making of a micro-budget Superman film in the textile town of Malegaon in Maharashtra.

Shashank Ghosh’ laugh riot “Quick Gun Murugun” is also getting screened at SFISAFF as a late night special.

Guru Dutt’s classic “Chaudhvin Ka Chand” will be shown at the event.
