With the races being held at the creek it makes for a pleasant contrast between old and new. The backdrop of the modern buildings and the small rowing boats revive the heritage and tradition of the past. It is the perfect window to view one of the oldest sports of the Emirates.
The 3.6km race starting inside the Palm Island crescent and culminating at the lagoon off Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina will witness the sheer strength of the rowers and the enthusiasm of the nakhoudah (leader), a replay of the past years.
Speaking of the races, Saeed Hareb, said, “The races to be held tomorrow represent a mix of the traditional and the modern. With the modern glass structures creating a backdrop as the rower’s race to the finish line, it makes for a perfect transition from the old to the new. We will have to see who makes it to the finish line first.”
