The Indo-Pak Friendship Cricket Cup, designed by Amit Pabuwal of Jaipur, will enter record books for being the biggest trophy made for any cricket tournament.
The 45-inch tall trophy is made of gold, silver and diamonds with Jaipur's famous meenakari work around.
Pabuwal says this incidentally happens to be the first coloured trophy. There are five players in action at the bottom representing different cricket playing nations. The Indian and Pakistani players are given symbolic colours of their teams — blue and green.
They all are playing around five artistic bats, which have intricate designs and are studded with diamonds. The centre part is like a blooming stem unfolding in a flower like platter. This has 10 gold wickets with red ball striking them at from different directions.
Besides, the trophy has flags of countries — the UAE, the US, the UK, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore — where India and Pakistan are scheduled to play friendship series and at the bottom are nationals flags of India and Pakistan and logos of cricket boards of the two countries.
Lastly, what makes this trophy unique is that it weighs 45kg.
"The captain of the winning team be it Rahul Dravid or Inzamamul Haq, they will need assistance to lift aloft this trophy, Pabuwal added jokingly.
Pabuwal said the reason why he made the biggest trophy because Lalit Modi, vice-president of the Board for Control of Cricket in India ( BCCI ) and president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, had told him: "You are known for creating records. Make the world's best trophy and create another record." Pabuwal said the challenge was more daunting as he had just two weeks to design and make the trophy.
"I and my team of master craftsmen had worked round-the-clock for two weeks to create this masterpiece," Pabuwal said proudly.
Meanwhile, Dr Bimal Soni, coordinator of the Indo-Pak one-day friendship series, told Khaleej Times from Abu Dhabi that this series would open new vistas in the history of Indo-Pak cricket.
He said the Indian cricket board president Sharad Pawar was arriving in Abu Dhabi for the match and "we are expecting Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf also."
Besides, he said the Bollywood was also here in full force with stars like Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chorpa.
Soni said during the lunch break of the first one-day match a grand laser show and fireworks are also planned.
