FUJAIRAH — The Fujairah Fishermen Society (FFS) is conducting a study to set up the first factory along the eastern coast specialising in scientifically dehydrating fish in conformity with all hygienic and environmental conditions.

Abdullah Al Delly, the FFS head, revealed that several specialised companies are carrying out a feasibility study to provide the Fujairah Municipality with the requisite details to approve the project. The factory will be set up in Al Sawdaa area near Al Qarya region, 10km off Fujairah along the coast. The initially estimated cost of Dh5 million is likely to go up, and the factory will be under the ownership of the FFS members, Al Delly added.

Work on the factory will begin the moment the feasibility study is approved by the Fujairah Municipality, in order to be ready within a few months, he stated.
