Environment exhibition inaugurated in Sharjah

SHARJAH — The Environment Exhibition, organised as part of the activities of the 9th National Environment Day, was inaugurated by Albdul Aziz Al Midfa, Director-General of Environment and protected Areas Authority (EPAA).

The exhibition which was conducted under the slogan “Proper waste management is rationalisation of sources and wealths” was attended by delegates from various countries. These delegates were in the country to participate in the Ruler Council Meeting for UN Programme of Environment and International Forum of Environment Ministers, held in Dubai.

The exhibition which was held at the Al Jazeera  Zoo featured the Charter of Environmental Pledge which attracted the attention of all members.

Addressing the event, Al Midfa said: "The national environment day celebrations make us evaluate our past performances and launch new plans for the future. We are in need of a proper policy to push us to evaluate our performance to ensure quality and achieve goals."

He pointed out that Sharjah had participated in the environment activities organised last week in Dubai.

The Sharjah EPAA annually celebrates the Environment National Day by organising several activities spread over two months. These activities include lectures and educational programmes on environment protection in schools and colleges.

The concluding day ceremony is to be held at Shajrat Al Garam area in Kalba district of Sharjah.
