DUBAI — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, urged the international community yesterday to adhere to the Olympic value and join hands as one-team to ensure better future for the world.

“The race towards progress doesn’t know the word impossible and competition doesn’t mean winning the first place only but also to strive persistently to achieve excellence,” said Shaikh Mohammed while addressing the concluding session of the third international Olympic sportsmen forum which was hosted by Dubai in response to an invitation from Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of Shaikh Mohammed and member of the international Olympic committee.

“Our world has become a global village that invites us to exchange ideas and efforts in order to make the future more brighter for the next generations,” Shaikh Mohammed told the Olympic sportsmen.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge said he and members of the committee were deeply impressed by Shaikh Mohammed’s call.

The IOC president noted that Dubai was the first city outside Europe to host the biennial event which was attended by more than 100 of the world’s famous  sportsmen representing around 35 sports federations.
