Environment-friendly carpets launched
By a staff reporter

DUBAI — A new brand of environment-friendly carpets has been launched in the UAE market recently, in a bid to support a growing global concern for the environment.

Made from 85 per cent recycled materials, the carpets are expected to provide corporate stakeholders, particularly those in the construction and tourism industries, an alternative choice.

Manufactured by Beaulieu of America and distributed in the UAE by Office Furnishing Interior Solutions (OFIS) of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group (ESAG), the carpets have been guaranteed to be lighter yet stronger than conventional carpets.

Likewise, the manufacturing process, from the use of recycled water to energy-saving technology, adhere to a set of standards that will not compromise the environment.

Speaking at the product’s launch in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Christopher Champlin, Beaulieu of America’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Europe, and Middle East, explained that the Beaulieu carpets are made from plastic or polyethylene terepthelate (PET) bottles that are converted into nexterra or a revolutionary carpet tile backing.

The nexterra carpet tiles are then treated with a durable self-renewing odour neutralizer called Puralex, which reduces odours and purifies the air.
