Million Poet contest enters final stage

ABU DHABI — The 9th episode of the ‘One Million Poet’ contest was televised live on Abu Dhabi TV Channel last Tuesday from Al Raha Beach theatre.

The evening witnessed a close competition among the four participating poets.

The guest of honour was the Iraqi poet Abas Jejan. The UAE vocalist Hamda Al Amri also represented some of his songs during the ceremony.

The contest was attended by a large number of people, including diplomats. The dignitaries included Shaikh Abdullah bin Muhammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Shaikh Majid bin Sultan Al Khateri, and Ali bin Salim Al Kaíab.

The Iraqi poet Yousof Al Oteibi, one of the contestants of the 8th episode, was chosen as the winner of the second qualifying round.

Six poets, out of a total of 24 poets currently competing each other in the second round, have to qualify for the third round.

The four poets who are nominated for poll this week are Mubarak Talib Al Mansouri, UAE, Abdulrahman Al Ahdal, Yemen, Muhammad Mureibad Al Azmi and Khalid Al Anzi, both Saudis
