An Abu Dhabi Municipality official said there are special health department teams which roam neighourhoods to catch stray animals, including dogs, cats etc. The problem is always caused by the lack of cooperation by pet owners who let their pets out without attending to them. Residents are advised to report to the authorities in case of any danger posed by stray pets.

The official advised residents not to take the risk of approaching or dealing with any suspected dangerous animals and avoid direct contact with them. The official also advised pet owners to keep an eye on their pets and not let them unattended on the street, so that they don’t endanger people’s lives.

Rise in parking fee in Dubai

PARKING appears to be one of the severe problems facing Dubai residents. Jumani, a resident of Bur Dubai called up the Khaleej Times Hotline complaining about the increasing parking charges in private parking lots. “I use a private parking area near my residence in Bur Dubai by paying rent on monthly basis. The rent for one month was Dh150 until February this year. But they increased the price to Dh200. In July, the rent again shot up to Dh250. I went for vacation in July to my home country. I returned to Dubai after two weeks and was stunned to hear that the rent has again increased to Dh300,” he said. “These people are increasing the rent as they like. We are left without any option and are forced to pay whatever they charge. The officials should look into the issue and find a solution,” he said.

Khaleej Times contacted the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). An official said: “Currently, there is no law regarding  parking charges in the parking areas run by private owners. The RTA is committed to provide good service for the residents. We will address the issue and find a solution as early as possible.”
