The session was arranged by Saadiyat Beach Golf Club’s master developer, Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), as part of the Abu Dhabi government’s long-term commitment to developing the emirate’s aspiring sport enthusiasts at the grass-roots level.

As Saadiyat Beach Golf Club marks the next evolution in the emirate’s emergence as a world-class golf destination of distinction, it is only natural that it plays a role as a catalyst for moving forward Abu Dhabi’s sporting youth,” said Ahmed Hussein, COO, TDIC and Deputy Director General, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA).
The two hour-long clinic took place on the breathtaking back-nine Mousetrap hole on the Gary Player designed-course - his first and only in the Middle East. During the session, The ‘Black Knight’, one of the greatest international golfers of all time, drilled the youngsters on a host of techniques, from chipping and putting, to driving off the tee and hazard play.
“It was really cool and I certainly learnt a lot. I could never hit the ball out of the bunker before, so after listening to Mr. Player, I think I’m going to do better in the future.
“He also helped me on how to finish up after my swing, which is going to be a big help,” said Abu Dhabi’s Mohammed Arar, who has been playing golf for four years.
“The chance to learn from one of the world’s best bunker players is great. I also got some pointers on how to keep my cool under pressure. This was really an amazing experience for us all,” said Khaled Attieh, from Saudi Arabia, who will be taking part in the Challenge Match against the ADJGC finalists from the UK and Ireland.
