The Rosy Blue sponsored UAE national team comprising Mohammed Shehab, Mohammed Al Joker, and Essa Al Sayyed clinched third place in the team event after defeating Singapore 3-0. India beat Qatar 3-0 for the team gold medal. On the way to the final in the team event, UAE beat China 3-2, Macau 3-0 in the quarter-finals but lost to India 3-0 in the semifinals.

The Arab world’s top cuiest Shehab rallied to defeat India’s Manan Chandra 4-2 with frame scores of 18-54 31-46 59-58 68-25 70-15 60-41 in the third place playoff of the snooker singles event. Shehab, who won the singles title in Macau two years ago, was ousted by the eventual champion Jin Long of China 4-1 (90-22 60-63 92-23 102-12 71-30) in the semifinal. Afghanistan’s Nader Khan Sultani edged out Chandra 4-3 in the other semifinal but lost 4-0 to Long in the final.

In the preliminaries, Shehab beat Macau’s Chang Wut Si Tou 4-0 (73-55 70-6 55-15 70-9) and Singapore’s Chun Kiat Lim 4-2 (82-11 72-50 48-71 56-42 39-61 68-12). In the quarter-finals, he beat Syria’s Omar Al Kojah 4-2 (116-0 66-71 48-59 71-46 91-2 49-19. UAE’s second player Mohammed Al Joker was ousted in the opening round when he lost to Korea’s /do Hoon Kim 4-2 (52-51 34-70 68-61 63-39 12-113 59-48).

In the 6-Red Snooker singles event, UAE were represented by Mohammed Al Joker and Essa Al Sayed. They won their opening matches but could not proceed beyond that. Mohammed beat Chul Ho Hwang 5-2 (55-1 36-27 038 32-19 0-63 23-33 46-4 42-16) while Essa defeated A Mohsin Al Abdul Rehamn 5-2 (50-17 40-46 47-10 44-8 49-5 18-30 41-7).

In the 9-Ball Pool singles, UAE’s Ismail Yaqoob Murtaza Alhasemi and Salahudin Hussein Mohammed Alrimawi won one match apiece. Yaqoob beat Ahmed Aboukhshaba 9-7 while Salahuddin defeated Nayef Al Jawini 9-5.
