DPS Dubai girls triumph

DUBAI — Ten teams from the most prestigious schools of Dubai gathered at the cricket pitch of DPS Dubai to pit their cricket skills in the 3rd 6-a-side cricket tournament, hosted by DPS Dubai and Young Talents Cricket Academy, a Press release said.

The tournament got off to a flying start on April 9 with Dr. B.R. Shetty declaring the tournament open. The schools played league matches and the semifinalists were DPS Dubai A team, Dubai Modern High School, Our Own English High School Dubai and The Winchester Dubai. The teams were narrowed down further through nail biting clinchers to the finalists of OOEHS Dubai and DPS Dubai.

DPS Dubai won the championship beating OOEHS Dubai by five runs. Malitha scored 13 runs and Tanya scored 7 runs for DPS Dubai. For Our Own Monique scored 13 and Aashika scored 7 runs.

All the matches were very exciting with nerves and excitement reaching a fever pitch.

The Principal of DPS Dubai Rashmi Nandkeolyar congratulated the teams and the winners and reiterated the importance cultivating the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play in the development of personality.

Best Bats woman: Sana- Westminster School,

Best Bowler: Aashika- OOEHS Dubai

Best Wicketkeeper: Tanya Flynn- DPS- Dubai

Best All Rounder: Monique- OOEHS Dubai

Fair Play Award: Dubai Modern High School

2nd Runner up: Westminster School Dubai,

1st Runner up: OOEHS Dubai

Winners: DPS Dubai.
