Inter-School Table Tennis: Nikhilesh enters semis

28 November 2007
DUBAI — The 17th Al Sadiq Inter-School Table Tennis Tournament was inaugurated on Monday at the school auditorium, a Press release informed.

The tournament, organised by Al Sadiq Islamic English School, Dubai, is being sponsored by Yamaha and co-sponsored by Sun & Sand Sports, Ladies Corner Trading, Emirates Refining Co. Ltd. and Tiffany Foods Ltd.

It could have been a matter of fate only that both the students qualifying for the semifinals in the individual championship were from the same schools. G. Sai Nikhilesh of The Indian High School, Dubai had to fight against compatriot Arun Sundar.

Nikhilesh did not allow any room to Arun during the battle, which the former won with ease, but not without a fight in third game, which Arun won. The score was 11-6, 11-5, 11-13, 11-7.

If this was not enough, the other semifinal provided more drama with twin brothers coming face to face. Amlan Milind and Ajinkya Milind played a great match and at last Ajinkya got the better of his sibling 11-2, 6-11, 11-8, 8-11 & 9-11.

In semifinal of the Team Championship, Indian High School, Dubai beat Ibn Seena English High School, Sharjah.

The other semifinal played between Delhi Private School, Sharjah and Dubai Modern High School saw former team qualifying for the finals.
