What began as a small step for Mushtaq in April 2002 — when he started his first Kashmir Cup cricket tournament with only eight teams and only one ground — has now blossomed into nine tournaments and eight grounds at Umm Al Quwain.

This season 350 matches were conducted at the seven grounds with 172 teams taking part. Besides ‘B’ division teams, senior teams like Nucaf Tellicherry and CSS Group also took part in these tournaments conducted under the auspices of the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Wasim topped the list for the man-of-the-match awards bagging five prizes in two tournaments and also claimed the best batsmen in the first E-Solution Cup ‘B’ Division tournament which his team won defeating Players XI. He scored 470 runs in the tournament while his team-mate Khurram Shehzad walked away with the man-of-the-tournament for his 295 runs and eight wickets. Ali Ahmed of Players Xi was named the best.

ETA Ascon won two tournaments — the 2nd Umm Al Quwain Corporate Cup and the 10th Kashmir Cricket Cup. Their Khalid was the best batsmen with 265 runs and Abdeen claimed the honours for his 265 in the Kashmir tournament. Another ETA Ascon player Abdeen was the Kashmir man of the tournament for his 265 and eight wickets.

Shaikh Rafiq conducted the proceedings. Mushtaq thanked the media for their coverage of their tournaments. He also thanked the Sharjah Cricket Council for all the support they gave him in conducting the tournaments.

The chief guests of the day included Lufti Jaber of UAQ Police, Abdullah Gulam of UAQ CID, Sajjad Pasha, Sales and Marketing Manager Parts, Javed Khan, Sales Manager, Commercial Vehicles, both of Al Futtaim Motors, Shoaib Khan, Land Surveyor of UAQ Municipality, Ezzat A.C. Shawneh, Managing Director Al Hamad Group. All gave away the prizes.
